Happy (2nd) first day of school! 📚 Today I officially became a 4th grade teacher and it was a wild ride! My students were so flexible and sweet 💕 I can’t wait to see all they can do over the next 8 months 🤩

Last Friday I finished packing up my classroom! 40

Last Friday I finished packing up my classroom! 40 boxes full of teaching goodies 🙀Packing up in 2 days with no help, evenings, or weekends (thanks Covid) was not easy. I laughed, I cried, and I listened to the @hamiltonmusical soundtrack at least 3 times 😂 But, in a way, it was therapeutic 💛 I had 3 amazing years full of memories in this room. I found so many notes and pictures that were made for me by students that I now have in a memory box 💕 I loved this room, but its time for my next adventure. Goodbye 2nd grade, Hello 4th grade! 📚

Displaced. Not something I thought I would have to

Displaced. Not something I thought I would have to worry about in my 4th year of teaching, but yesterday it happened. 26 school days into the year with my 2nd grade students, building relationships, learning about each other, and becoming a family... and now I have to say goodbye. Needless to say, nobody took it well 💔

I found out that I will be teaching 4th grade at a new school starting on Monday, but I’m still expected to teach my students through tomorrow. That leaves 1 day to make the switch 😅
.
I’m nervous, stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed. I’m sad to be leaving my students and handing my class over to a different teacher. I’m sad knowing that my future students are feeling the same way about their situations as well
.
I keep telling myself that everything happens for a reason. Although this is not ideal, I’m starting to get excited about this new adventure! I never pictured myself as a 4th grade teacher, but I know I will love these students. I know that I was born to teach, so that’s what I will do! 💕

Virtual teacher friends: Do you teach from home or

Virtual teacher friends: Do you teach from home or from your classroom? 👩🏻‍🏫 I have been going back and forth because I genuinely see the advantages of both! When I go to my room, it gives me a sense of “going to work”. I feel like I get into the mindset of teaching more easily, but it’s also so sad. I just sit in an empty, undecorated classroom by myself surrounded by stacked desks, empty cubbies, and rolled up rugs. A space I usually share with 24 energetic 7 year olds. 😭 It makes me sad to think of the joy my room usually holds and the lifelessness it now expresses 💕
.
When I teach from home, I find it harder to get into that teaching headspace (I get there eventually), but I also enjoy those extra minutes of sleep and drinking a hot cup of coffee with my husband. ☕️ Also, comfy pants! 😂 The time I save on traveling back and forth from school allows me a few extra minutes of self care 🤩
.
So, I’m so curious! Teacher friends! If you have the option, which do you prefer? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Rain, rain, don’t go away! ☔️ Today was the first big “rain all day long” day in a long time and I AM LOVING IT! 😍 I am a PNW girl through and through 🌧 Also, I love any excuse to pull out my favorite pink Hunter rain boots that I’ve had since high school 💕 Life is too short to wear boring clothes!
